CLOSE CALL: Advance firefighters put out a vehicle fire after a four-car wreck at the intersection of State Road 32 and County Road 500 W. The accident occured after Dodge pickup truck – driven by Korey Copeland, 24, Lebanon – heading south on 500 W pulled into the intersection and was hit by a Ford Explorer driven by James Comer, 27, Brownsburg, heading east on 32. The cars then crossed the intersection and smashed into a Chevrolet truck driven by Thomas Ford, 45, Thorntown, that had been waiting at a stop sign on the opposite side of 500 W. Ford's truck was then pushed backward and hit another Chevrolet pickup driven by Jay Slipher of Jamestown.
Comer's Ford Explorer briefly caught fire after the accident. No major injuries were reported at the scene. Ford was taken to Witham Hospital with a minor injury to the left shoulder.
